Car and Household Services

When insuring with Lorisiko all of our client recieve access to Lorisiko Assist. Lorisiko Assist car and household services focus on Road side assist, Home assist and Home maintenance assist.


PLEASE NOTE! Your vehicle must be towed by Lorisiko Assist in the event that it needs to be towed after an accident. Please take note should you make use of any other towing services unless unconscious you will be held liable for your own towing account..

Members have access to the following services in the event of a roadside emergency (limited up to R500 per incident):

  • Flat battery – jump start only (replacement of battery for the member’s account)
  • Flat tyre (help with changing of tyre)
  • Keys locked in vehicle (unlocking only)
  • Fuel assistance (limited to five litres per incident)
  • Minor roadside–running repairs (electrical, coil, immobilizer etc.)
  • Transmission of urgent messages

Tow-in service to the nearest approved dealership (if under warranty), repair centre or panel-beater in the event of:

  • Mechanical breakdown – covered up to R500
  • Electrical breakdown – covered up to R500
  • Accident damage – cost covered to the nearest approved panel-beater up to a limit of R1 850

For breakdowns and accidents more than 100km from home (on condition that the towing is arranged via the assistance call centre) we will:

  • Pay up to R500 for overnight accommodation for you and four passengers OR
  • Pay up to R500 for 24-hour, Group-B car rental (subject to availability and the driver being in possession of a valid credit card and driving licence)

In the event of your vehicle being left for repairs after a breakdown or accident more than 100km from home (on condition that the towing is arranged via the assistance call centre), we will:

  • Pay up to R500 for 24-hour, Group-B car rental (subject to availability and the driver being in possession of a valid credit card and driving licence) OR
  • Pay up to R500 for a flight ticket to collect the vehicle after repairs

Alternatively

  • Should the vehicle have been towed to a dealership closer to your place of residence, we will supplement the additional towing costs up to R500 (on condition that the car rental or flight ticket options above were not utilised)
  • In the event of Telkom’s lines being down, please contact 083 789 9973 for assistance in a roadside emergency

Overall limit of R5,000 per policy, per annum

  • Please note: This cover excludes all vehicles over 3 500kg, trailers, caravans and boats. You will not be entitled to service where the vehicle is not in a roadworthy condition. Any costs incurred through arrangements made by yourself without prior authorisation will not be reimbursed. Assistance is only available in South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland

In the event of a home emergency as a result of breakage of fixtures and fittings, we will arrange for an appropriate repairer to address the problem at one nominated address.

  • Electrician (in the event of an electric gate not working)
  • Plumber (in the event of a blocked drain, burst geyser)
  • Locksmith (in the event of front door keys being lost)
  • Glazier (in the event of a broken window after a burglary)

PLEASE NOTE! all parts and materials used are excluded and will be for the member’s account.A home emergency is defined as an event that is potentially life threatening or could possibly cause structural damage to a property.

Call-out fee and first hour labour are covered, thereafter normal rates apply Overall limit of 3 incidents or up to R2,000 per policy, per annum

In the event of a home maintenance emergency as a result of breakage to fixtures and fittings.

  • (e.g. toilet handle breaking), we will arrange for an appropriate repairer to address the problem at one nominated address.

We often read in the media about unlawful arrests and sometimes victimisation by members of the South African Police Service, Metro Police and other law enforcement agencies.

  • People arrested are often locked up and left to go to court before bail is even considered, while they were eligible to be released on bail at the police station by officers and/or standby prosecutors there and then. The problem is that the “man on the street” doesn’t necessarily have immediate access to a lawyer not even to mention a lawyer that is skilled in criminal litigation.
  • LAWYER SOS will provide that legal service to the arrested person/s.
  • The call centre receiving the distress signal will then react by calling the member and confirming the need for a criminal lawyer. The call centre will then dispatch an approved lawyer to the relevant police station to assist the member and if possible to apply for bail (bail costs will be covered up to R1500). The lawyer will be at the police station within 3 hours after the arrest. The Lawyers capped fee of R2 000 will be covered by LawyerSOS. Thereafter the member may appoint the lawyer in his/her personal capacity to assist, should they choose too.
  • LawyerSOS can be used for any other legal assistance, however the capped fee of R2 000.00 will still apply (no telephonic advise will be given). If a member was unlawfully arrested and detained, we will appoint a Lawyer on the panel of LawyerSOS to prosecute a claim for damages against the Minister of Police on a contingency basis after a free consultation.

We will at your request, relay a notification of an emergency to the police department, traffic department, fire brigade, ambulance services, your security company or any other emergency service provider.

  • Overall limit of R1,000 per policy, per annum
